The event is part of IRIDESCENT – International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Other Reconfigurations of the Sensible, 5th edition, taking place from November 1 to 30, 2026, organized by the National Dance Center Bucharest ( CNDB ). How does a place translate? How do language, place and body intertwine - and how does the specificity of a rural landscape choreograph one’s habitus? The vernacular changes the posture of the speaker, and the flows of capital and its accumulation leave their marks on the land. We carry places with us, and from these places, reach out towards one another, inevitably always in translation; places shape our bodies, condition our gaze, and repeat themselves in our gestures and manners of speaking. Capital exploits the distinctive qualities of places, but also wipes them away, creating a homogenised space cloaked in neutrality. In Reading Gradience, rehearsal IV, the three artists invite the audience to read together with them on stage. Creating a place within an already existing one, the poetic essay fills the room with a fleeting echo of translations, languages, and embodied dialects.
